Starting your vermicomposting unit using bedding material has a strong advantage over using shredded paper or cardboard due to the fact that the bedding material already supports a healthy environment for your worms. It contains all three types of worms (mature, baby and cocoons) plus the microorganisms that co-exist with the worms. You have instant vermicomposting when purchasing bedding material for your residential or commercial vermicomposting unit(s).
The bedding with worms is approximately 20 lbs. total. It contains about 1 1/2 lb. to 2 lb. of worms. The bedding consists of a complete environment the worms are accustomed to and also serves as food source. This product is highly recommended for starting a new worm bin.
